Young Farmers Club (YFC)

As part of our commitment to long-term impact and sustainability, the Green Future Initiative Training Farm also launched the Young Farmers Club (YFC) — a dedicated department focused on nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders.

The Young Farmers Club engages primary and secondary school students, introducing them early to sustainable agriculture, food systems, and agribusiness. Through structured, hands-on training, students gain practical experience and develop a strong foundation in farming as both a life skill and a future career path.

Our Vision:

To inspire young minds to see agriculture as a viable, innovative, and profitable career opportunity.

What the Program Offers:

  • Practical, hands-on farm training sessions
  • Establishment of school-based demonstration farms
  • Training in sustainable agriculture and agroecology
  • Introduction to agribusiness and entrepreneurship
  • Mentorship from experienced farmers and program alumni

Current Challenge: Transportation Barrier

We are experiencing growing interest from schools and students eager to participate. However, a key challenge remains: lack of reliable transportation to and from the training farm.

Priority Need: Student Transport Bus

We are seeking Sponsors and Partners to support the acquisition of a dedicated transport bus to enable safe and consistent student participation.

Additional Project Needs:

To successfully implement and sustain the Young Farmers Club, we are also seeking support in the following areas:

  • Farming Tools & Equipment: Hoes, watering cans, wheelbarrows, protective gear, and basic mechanized tools
  • Seeds & Planting Materials: High-quality seeds, seedlings, and organic inputs for training and school farms
  • Livestock Starter Kits: Small livestock such as poultry or rabbits for practical learning
  • Irrigation Systems: Simple irrigation solutions to ensure year-round farming activities
  • Training Materials: Manuals, guides, and educational resources for students and trainers
  • Demonstration Plot Development: Preparation and maintenance of training plots at both the farm and participating schools
  • Staff & Facilitator Support: Allowances for trainers and field coordinators
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Tools and systems to track student progress and project impact
  • Uniforms & Safety Gear: Boots, gloves, and protective clothing for students during training
  • Refreshments & Welfare: Light meals and water to support students during training sessions
